Data, evidence and evaluation

Under Theme 5 of the National Strategy, we are working to build a strong data, research and evaluation agenda to build our evidence base on the nature, causes and impacts of child sexual abuse in Australia. A strong evidence base is the best way to understand how to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse. It’s important to understand any gaps in the evidence base, and how our work is meeting the National Strategy’s vision, objective and values so we can guide the design and ongoing improvement of our response to child sexual abuse. Information about how we are doing this can be found below.

The National Strategy Monitoring and Evaluation Framework (Framework) outlines the impact we are seeking to make under the National Strategy and how progress towards this intended impact will be measured.

The National Strategy Data Dashboard (Dashboard) includes data on the prevalence, risk and impacts of child sexual abuse. It centralises national data that underpins the indicators and measures in the National Strategy’s Monitoring and Evaluation Framework. This increases the accessibility of national data and allows users to quantitatively track directional change (increase/decrease) towards the National Strategy’s outcomes. The National Office will continue to update the Dashboard.

We are leading development and delivery of the National Child Safety Research Agenda (CSRA) to coordinate formative research on child sexual abuse victimisation and offending in Australia.

If you or a child are in immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000).

Information on reporting child safety concerns can be found on our Make a report page.
