The Australian Government is committed to being accountable and transparent in the work led by the National Office for Child Safety and in partnership with state and territory governments to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse. The National Strategy Annual Report is an important way in which we demonstrate this commitment.
The National Strategy annual reports provide an update on the implementation of the 62 activities under the National Strategy’s First National Action Plan and First Commonwealth Action Plan over a 12-month period. It also includes an update on the implementation of the 122 Royal Commission recommendations that are either partially or wholly directed at the Australian Government.
Previously, all national work to develop and implement the National Strategy was publicly reported in the Australian Government’s Annual Progress Reports on the implementation of recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. As recommended by the Royal Commission, the Australian Government released 5 consecutive Annual Progress Reports over 2018-2022.
