Update: Development of trauma-informed training resources to enhance law enforcement engagement with non-offending family members of perpetrators of child sexual exploitation and abuse
We recognise the importance of supporting non-offending family members of perpetrators of child sexual exploitation and abuse in trauma-informed ways.
Following stakeholder consultation, we are seeking a supplier to develop training resources to enhance law enforcement engagement with non-offending family members of perpetrators of child sexual exploitation and abuse. This falls under Measure 10 of the First National Action Plan to Prevent and Respond to Child Sexual Abuse.
The training resources will enhance law enforcement engagement with these family members, including identifying trauma-informed approaches and referral pathways for support.
The training resources will complement a new national support service for non-offending family members of perpetrators of child sexual exploitation and abuse. We will establish this through a separate process, with an approach to market to occur in due course. The training resources will be developed in consultation with Australian law enforcement agencies and informed by lived experience.
